An awesome Saturday of service #outside! Thanks to a Beat the Streets Chicago connection to the #ChicagoHopeAcademy wrestling team + folks from Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. Confluency & Crowe, we were able to help the amazing #stewardship team at Shirley Heinze Land Trust demolish and build needed boardwalks at Ambler Flatwoods in #MichiganCity. For teens studying #STEAM it was great chance to meet engineers and build something together, and for everyone it was a great day of fresh air and dirty hands! Plus a guided hike w/ National Park Service to cap off the day! Epic. At SUM we know some of the benefits of time #outside to be calm, #connection, #introspection, #understanding and #communication. Fun bookends to a busy week #outside w/ SUM… A full-day #staffretreat at #IndianaDunes for The Wetlands Initiative who leads a lot of restoration at #Midewin National Tallgrass Praire… And then a day of #exploration AT Midewin with Chicago Muslims Green Team and their members for our fourth/final outing together this year. SUM strives to curate the #restorative experience outside you and your group need, whether it’s an introspective facilitated team session or a fun and friendly community recreational event, with a lot in between. For the 2nd year in row SUM loved the chance to get a team whose job is the outdoors to have a wholly different kind of experience #outside.
