Sumner's Residential Services

Sumner’s Residential Services is the only Leavenworth, KS based youth residential facility, pending license in Kansas to work with 16 children between the ages of 8 to 18. SRS provides care for clients who may have patterns of: antisocial, Opposition defiance, aggression, abuse, impulsive and/or other high risk behaviors. Our goal is to help our clients safely return to a less restrictive environment such as family by addressing the behaviors that led to placement in a Residential Facility. We accomplish this through evidence based/trauma informed care that targets problem behaviors by helping clients improve: problem solving, social, life and coping skills and help develop and maintain healthy relationships. Our youth have: a safe, nurturing, structured environment, delivered by qualified/skilled practitioners. This facility has 24 hour sight/sound supervision. Our facility offers many benefits such as: our admission procedures are sufficiently flexible, which allows for: same day, weekend and overnight admissions. We attempt to pair every client with a professional mentor from the community, we have an in-house therapist and a nurse on staff. We are the only: “NO EJECT/REJECT YRC #2 in the area!” Unless the client is deemed “require PRTF level of supervision”, we will continue to provide: placement, appropriate interventions and meet clients emotional and behavioral healthcare needs. We specializes in providing services to female clients with severe complex trauma that exhibits frequent acts of aggression, high risk of elopement and/or suicidal ideation despite not meeting PRTF level of care. These Clients receive increased therapy, staffing and structure! SRS provides services to two 8 client locations with the total capacity of 16 child capacity but we serve some of the most difficult to place clients in Kansas. We are becoming the “glue or bridge” between PRTF and home to insure: SUCCESS in placement, STABILITY in placement and SAFETY in placement!
