?? We're running it again! I'm proud that we will be hosting our Summer Associate Hub 2L Job Fair on May 30 at the Westin Times Square in New York City. With the accelerated timeline of 2L recruiting happening largely outside of OCI, firms urged us 2 years ago to create a Job Fair to add structure to the process and bring back the in-person interaction that firms loved in traditional pre-Covid OCI. It's a pure win, win, win: -Helping students meet and engage with variety of firms in one place -Helping firms reach students in one centralized event, and outsource the event planning and generating the audience to us -Helping schools support students by providing additional opportunities to meet and interview with firms -- especially as many firms now hire largely outside of the school's own on-campus interview (OCI) programs Last year's 2L Job Fair was, by all accounts, a success. Students made genuine connections with firms. Our Interview Program generated callbacks, offers, and acceptances. Watching the 250+ students from all over the country pack the Networking Reception and seeing our in-person Interview Program run without a hitch was one of the proudest moments I've had since starting Lateral Hub and Summer Associate Hub. The best compliment we received: "So, how many years have you been doing this?" (Last year was our first year, but you'd never know.) For students outside of NY, we offer a travel stipend (limited availability) - last year, *almost 100 students took advantage of it*, traveling in from Boston, DC, Philly, NC, St. Louis, Chicago, California, and other locations. In our minds, this event would not make sense without a travel stipend to provide access to opportunity for students. Very excited about this one -- if you are a 1L, our program today is not to be missed. Especially with the changes in the format and timeline of 2L summer associate recruiting, it is more important than ever to learn directly from top firms about - what firms look for, how to navigate the process, the timing to apply, and other key questions that are commonly raised by law students. I'm proud to be moderating this program surrounded by some of the best people in this business (really). I'm excited that our 2025 Virtual Series kicks off *next week* ! The best way to learn about what it's actually like to work at a law firm or to prepare for the recruiting process is to hear firsthand from attorneys and recruiting professionals. We have a fantastic lineup of programs planned for 1Ls to do just that. Our programs include fun, helpful, and informative discussions with attorneys and recruiting professionals at top law firms, as well as *breakout rooms* for students to ask questions and network. The breakout rooms have been a *great* way for firms and students to connect, often leading to real opportunities for students. If you are a 1L, this is a very easy way to show engagement with firms and prepare for the recruiting process by understanding what different practice areas mean. We have a lot of fun hosting these programs and I'm excited to kick it off again for 2025. --Intro to Transactional Practice Areas: this Monday, March 3, 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT. ?? I had a great day in beautiful Los Angeles yesterday presenting for 1Ls at USC Gould School of Law and UCLA Law School on Navigating 2L Recruiting. One of the main reasons I decided to launch Lateral Hub and Summer Associate Hub is because I love helping students and attorneys with their job search, from the great advice I got earlier in my career. It was an any excuse to escape the NJ temperature and meet some great students. (The United miles don't hurt either.) We are in unique position with our Summer Associate Hub offerings, hearing firsthand from firms, law school career offices, and students. We're able to take it all in, process it, and share transparent and reliable info with students about how to navigate the accelerated 2L hiring process. So they can feel at ease about the process instead of picking at straws for info. What a fun and engaged group of students at both schools, including many who were eager to jump in when we opened it up for audience participation - from what I'm seeing so far, I'm hopeful that the Class of 2027 is going to crush it this year. Thanks so much to the wonderful Rachel Kronick Rothbart, Kadie Umanzor, and the rest of the team at USC Gould, and the wonderful Kate Eklund, Beth Moeller, Margot Vanyan, and the rest of the team at UCLA Law.
