??? Project Spotlight: Frank R. Bowerman Landfill Phase VIII-A1 Groundwater Protection???? We are making significant progress on a large-scale landfill groundwater protection project for Orange County Waste & Recycling in Irvine, CA. This project enhances environmental protection through extensive earthwork and infrastructure improvements. ? During the project, we are: ??Completing over eight million cubic yards of earthwork for cell excavation, landslide remediation, and buttress fill placement ??Installing 1.8 million square feet of geosynthetic liner ??Placing 25,000 tons of leachate collection gravel ??Installing 55,000 linear feet of subdrain, leachate collection, and landfill gas piping ??Designing and installing a dewatering system with 28,500 linear feet of horizontal drilling ??Performing civil improvements to the site's paving, drainage, and electrical infrastructure ? Last week, we attended the ASC Regions 6 & 7 2025 Student Competition and Career Fair in Sparks, NV. With 241 teams, 1,798 students, and 180 companies, it was one of the largest events in history! It was a big honor to sponsor the CSULB team of six students in the Region 7 Heavy Civil competition, supported by Granite Construction. Our team’s fully-responsive bid placed second closest to Granite’s bid price, and they delivered an outstanding oral presentation showcasing their expertise. Our team is incredibly proud of our sponsored students and grateful to our employees who contributed their time and expertise. We were also impressed by the talented students we met at the career fair the next day and excited about their future in our industry. ???Project Spotlight: State Route 14 Cut Slope Reconstruction??? Sukut successfully reconstructed a 2,000-foot-long slope along State Route 14, originally graded in the early 1970s. Over the years, erosion weakened the slope, posing a potential risk to the traveling public. Our team implemented a strategic restoration plan to enhance long-term slope stability and roadway safety. During the project, we: ??Excavated 212,000 cubic yards of material ??Installed 554,000 square feet of an anchored wire mesh mat system ??Used a helicopter for precise installation and erosion control We are proud to contribute to the protection and longevity of this critical infrastructure! https://lnkd.in/gRAJiYKB . . . . #sukutconstruction #caltrans
