Does the workload of a grant administrator affect program outcomes? One study points to a definitive yes. The study, in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, found that when financial aid administrators' workload went down, more low-income students got access to the program. Most likely because those administrators actually had time to help the students who needed assistance. It's an important lesson for every government grantmaker—reducing administrative workload is not just good for your team, it's good for your constituents too.

"The interaction with our grant platform is the first interaction we have with some of our nonprofits." - Jeffrey Howell Last week Jeff joined us to share why his team at United Way of the Greater Triangle switched to Submittable. It's a good reminder that a grant platform can make or break relationships with grant partners. And, as in any relationship, the small stuff matters a whole lot. This year, we decided to try something new with our employee giving program. We gave each of our employees a credit and?let them decide?where the funds should go. And we did it all on our own platform. All together, we supported 248 nonprofits around the world and donated more than $42,000 to organizations like: Mountain Home: supporting young mothers in Montana Laurel House: working to end domestic abuse in Pennsylvania Backpack Brigade: delivering weekend meals to kids across Washington state Goonj: providing disaster relief and supporting rural development in India We feel so lucky to support the good work happening in our communities—and thankful to our employees for leading the way.
