Dr. Janice Rothschild often gets asked about breast pain. She advises that breast pain can cause concern but isn’t always a sign of a problem. In fact, the most common cause of breast pain is a combination of hormones and diet. Estrogen in the body, even after menopause, combined with certain foods like coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate, can be the cause of pain at any age. It is wise, however, to check with your doctor if you experience a change. Learn more from Dr. Rothschild by watching our recent webinar on breast health: https://lnkd.in/exzRmxMr

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to focus attention on the disease. Sturdy Health oncologists remind us that although pancreatic cancer accounts for only 3% of new cancer diagnoses in the U.S., it is responsible for 8% of cancer deaths and is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States for both men and women. The good news is that researchers with the Centers for Disease Control report that, in recent years, pancreatic cancer survival rates have shown modest improvement, largely due to advancements in therapy.?

November is National Prematurity Awareness Month. Each year in the U.S., 1 in 10 babies is born preterm — before the 37th week of pregnancy. At Sturdy Health, we partner with parents to achieve a full-term, healthy birthing experience. Our nursery care providers are neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners trained to provide all levels of care as needed. Sturdy Health also maintains a strong relationship with Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island for higher levels of nursery care, if required. On this World Pneumonia Day, remember that anyone can get pneumonia. Still, some people are at higher risk: young children, older adults, and people with chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and several other conditions. In the US each year, an estimated 150,000 people are hospitalized for pneumococcal pneumonia, and about 1 in 20 people die as a result. The CDC recommends pneumococcal vaccination for children younger than 5 years and adults 50 years or older.
