Stupp Bridge Company is providing almost 3500 tons of fabricated structural steel for the I-285/I-20 East Interchange Project?which is ongoing in DeKalb County, Georgia as part of Georgia’s Major Mobility Investment Program. The structural steel is being fabricated in Bowling Green, Kentucky by Stupp's hardworking and highly skilled workforce and the scope consists of a mix of structural steel for multiple curved plate girder bridge units and wide flange beam bridge widenings.? The curved steel units are made of ASTM A709 Grade 50W steel with shop applied inorganic zinc primer applied to the exterior girders and under the expansion joints.?The widenings are made of ASTM A709 Grade 50 steel with shop applied inorganic zinc primer on all steel surfaces.? After erection the primer will be coated with finish coats in the field. The curved steel flyover units are featured in the photos in this post and the steel for the widenings will be delivered later this year.
