This month, we applaud two of our Tropers as they celebrate 3 years here at sDC! Roman Smith and Nicole Ennist both joined our team in March 2022 as part of the Architecture and Interior Design studios respectively and have become integral team members bringing a wealth of knowledge and sincerity into work every day. We are so lucky to have them on our team so please help us congratulate them!

Last year we had the pleasure of partnering with?studiotrope?Design Collective to photograph and document their?recently completed project of Boulder County's new South East Hub building. The building focuses on in person services to residents in southeast Boulder County in Lafayette. The Southeast County Community Hub, located in a newly renovated building at 1755 S. Public Road, is a safe, inclusive space that enhances equitable access to services. “With the opening of the Southeast Hub it allows the facility to meet the growing needs of southeast county by moving services closer to their residences, as well as consolidating smaller offices from leased spaces in Lafayette.” In addition to offering multiple services and creating more equitable access, the new facility is also a LEED Gold Certified building. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the most widely used green building rating system world-wide and provides the design frameworks. Along with staff from studiotrope and the facilities employees we photographed the spaces on a morning before the space was opened to the public. ~Project Highlight~ In response to a steady increase in patronage, Arapahoe Libraries hired studiotrope in 2016 to design an addition/renovation for their Eloise May Library Branch Library. Inspired by the diversity and varied cultural values of the library’s visitors, the design focused on a colorful and vibrant new Children’s Library wing with dedicated programming space to enrich childhood learning, development, and curiosity. Earlier this year, we were hired once again work with the district and their patrons to broaden this library’s capacity with a new Annex Expansion. We can't wait to see what comes of this!

We are so excited to share one of our recently completed projects—the Thornton Community Center and Anythink Library! At just over 35,000 square feet, the facility includes a gymnasium, dance studio, preschool, weight room, rentable event spaces, coffee shop, makerspace, library, dedicated children’s and teen spaces, and study rooms. Thanks to the City of Thornton, Colorado, Anythink Libraries, and our design build partner Adolfson & Peterson Construction, you can step inside this new facility to see where community resources are headed next. These stairs at the recently opened Thornton Community Center shine in more ways than one! ??

Every step of this interactive staircase, designed by studiotrope Design Collective, was crafted with precision—from our studio to its final home in a trapezoidal stairwell. Behind the scenes, each slab underwent meticulous quality checks, ensuring perfect shaping, vibrant color matching, and seamless integration of stainless steel caution strips for safety. It's been 4 years since construction started at the Denver Central Library and this past month we celebrated the official re-opening—and boy, was it an event! The reimagining of Schlessman Hall includes two grand stairs and a new entry sequence, and the second floor is now home to a new teen hangout space. The renovation also added inclusive restrooms, a lot more meeting and study rooms, and much much more! So come check it out and enjoy these clips from the Grand Opening in the meantime!
