Costa Rican artist Priscilla González is known for her intricate papercut artworks and her focus on femininity, domesticity and intimacy. Her art prints make reference to doilies and crochet, as well as to lace veils; objects and practices typically associated with women and approved of by society. Yet the figures in her doily papercuts are taken from erotic photos of curvaceous women from the 1960s and 1970s. As a result, Priscilla's works touch upon the complexities of femininity - of the outward need to be 'respectable' and of the contradictory eroticisms and desires that come to life behind closed doors, away from the judgemental gaze of society. Studio Parga is delighted to present, in?partnership with the artist, six of the original design layouts from which Priscilla's papercuts?are made. https://lnkd.in/etMwHpi3

Camila Barreto Hoyos's work is bold and colourful. It is unapologetically abstract and driven by a desire to investigate pictorial composition and the painted surface. Yet it is also sensitive and subtle, and each of her abstract compositions is firmly rooted in human experience and the artist's day-to-day life. Thin slivers of paint slice through?large patches of colour?to create movement and tension in?Meandro?(Meander); amorphous forms push against one another, changing and altering with?one another's force?in?Amor Tectónico?(Tectonic Love); and a central yellow rectangle becomes a site for curiosity in?Atisbadero?(Peephole).?The key to each?image lies in?its title and the tensions visible between form, line and colour. https://lnkd.in/eDi6c2Sd
