The finish line is very near at the Urban School Performing Arts Center. Here is the sixth post in a series documenting the transformation.
Post #6 of The Urban School PAC transformation. We are now 3 weeks away from completing this project so I'd better start making up for some lost time on my LinkedIn post progression. We ended off the last post with the end of the hand-dug concrete piers and infill that created the new subterranean lower level of the building and the new foundations. Once those concrete walls were in, work could begin on all of the underground infrastructure and the new lower level slab. The trenching for all of the under slab plumbing and electrical and AV conduit was not an easy task for the contractors. Working inside of the perimeter walls did not leave anywhere to put dirt/sand as it was excavated. There was some well orchestrated sequencing by Cahill Contractors and their subs Decker Electric and Allied Heating & Air Conditioning Co. Inc. | Allied Mechanical (tm), all while working around the footings for steel work being prepared by AHLBORN STRUCTURAL STEEL INC. With the slab poured, we finally had a solid working surface and a fully formed building volume. Next up...steel. Studio Bondy Architecture
