Thank you Patrick O'Donnell! We had a great time discussing the profession of architecture and encouraging Making Waves Academy students to pursue their ambitions!
Thanks to one of our industry partners, Studio Bondy Architecture, for welcoming our Making Waves Academy students to their Oakland office for an immersive career exploration day! Students didn't just observe - they engaged in hands-on activities, discovered architecture and design career pathways, and connected with industry professionals who shared real-world insights and experiences. This is an awesome example of what's needed to create meaningful economic mobility for young people. We need to bring together K-12 education and industry partners like Studio Bondy to build accelerated pathways into high-demand, high-wage jobs through worked-based learning experiences like internships, externships, and job shadowing. Our students said it best: “It gave me a clear sense of my future path, and I now feel more confident in pursuing architecture as my career. I love that architecture is an endless journey, where I can explore different styles, tools, and meet diverse people. This experience inspired me to start practicing and learning on my own to get ahead.” –?Emmanuel Alberto “I really enjoyed this trip because I have wanted to get into construction management. This trip showed me what I have to do in the profession and the education I need. It encouraged me to look for internship or work opportunities, possibly at Studio Bondy.” –?Shihab Alkaheli Big thanks to thomas lumikko for your partnership and investing in Making Waves Education Foundation, and thanks to Justin Douglas and Arika Spencer- Brown, EdD, MBA for coordinating this incredible visit! #CareerPathways #WorkBasedLearning #CareerExploration #WorkforceDevelopment #IndustryPartnership https://lnkd.in/ekFN4WGR
