Our Los Angeles office remodel is a perfect example, reflecting our design philosophy and showcasing our work in commercial architecture. Our office space—originally a 1920s building—was thoughtfully renovated with the same vision and creativity we bring to every project. This remodel was more than an upgrade; it was an opportunity to create an inspiring environment for our team and to demonstrate the kind of commercial work we do. A Reflection of Our Design Ethos When we set out to redesign our workspace, our goal was to create an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and innovation. We wanted our office to be more than just a place to work, it needed to embody who we are as a firm. Key Features of the Redesign: Open Collaboration: We reimagined traditional office layouts to encourage interaction and idea exchange among team members. Adaptive Workstations: Flexibility is essential in our dynamic field. Our workstations are designed to adapt to various project needs and team configurations. Natural Light Utilization: By maximizing natural light, we've created a warm inviting atmosphere that enhances productivity and well-being. Blending Historic Character with a Modern Touch: We embraced the building's original 1920s character, blending it with contemporary elements to create a space that feels both timeless and forward-thinking. Exposed structural elements and original materials honor the past, while new finished and fixtures elevate the design. Intentional Use of Space: Every aspect of the office was designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and focus. Open spaces encourage team connection, while private areas provide the flexibility needed in a dynamic working environment. Indoor-Outdoor Flow: Staying true to our ethos of integrating indoor and outdoor spaces, we crafted a seamless transition between interiors and the exterior, making our workspace both enjoyable and functional. While we've established ourselves in residential architecture, this office remodel represents our experience in commercial projects. It serves as a live portfolio piece, showcasing our ability to blend functionality with innovative design in a commercial setting. A thoughtfully designed space can transform the way a business functions, enhancing productivity, inspiring collaboration, and making a memorable impression. Hillview Cove by Studio AR&D Architects featured in Elle Decor! Last year, we had the privilege of seeing one of our architectural projects featured in Elle Decor. Even though some time has passed, the distinctiveness and lasting impact of this project continue to resonate with us. Situated in Palm Springs, this 7,200-square-foot project was a collaborative effort, focused on creating a space that's both large enough for entertaining and intimate enough to feel like home. Our approach embraced the principles of desert modernism, with a design that highlights deep overhangs, and an emphasis on outdoor living. We utilized board-formed concrete and charred Douglas fir ceilings to give this home a soulful touch, aligning with the homeowners' vision of a contemporary, peaceful space. As we continue to embark on new projects, we carry the lessons and inspirations from this experience. We are proud of the recognition from Elle Decor and thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the architectural landscape of Palm Springs. Thank you to everyone involved in this project. Desert Palisades Guardhouse We’re excited to showcase the Desert Palisades Guardhouse, this guardhouse is more than just a functional structure; it’s a statement piece that sets the tone for the Desert Palisades neighborhood. In designing the Desert Palisades Guardhouse, we aimed to create a structure that not only reflects the high caliber of homes in the development but also resonates with the raw, rugged terrain of the surrounding landscape. This balance is achieved by integrating the guardhouse seamlessly with both the built environment and the natural desert setting. A boulder on the site was a key reference in the design. The roof echoes the shape of the boulder, yet never physically touches it, symbolizing the thoughtful dialogue between the natural and the manmade. The material selection for both the exterior and interior was deliberate, chosen for strength, durability, and their ability to complement the Palm Springs desert hillside. Steel, board-formed concrete, and wood materials transition smoothly from outside to inside, separated only by frameless glass, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor transition. With it’s panoramic desert views, expansive glazed surfaces, and a notable cantilever, the Desert Palisades Guardhouse respects and enhances its natural setting, welcoming residents and visitors alike to this unique community.?
