Last year, our team worked with the Student Success Center at Portland State University on wayfinding graphics and murals to make their space more inviting for our students. "Student Success is a mission to provide a space on campus that is dedicated to offering all students, regardless of their backgrounds, the resources they need to succeed during their time at PSU and beyond. To execute the wayfinding campaign, we created wall art, window decals, and posters to be placed throughout the building to raise awareness of the center itself and promote the resources provided. We used the pathway lines on the ground to guide students directly to the center. In addition, we incorporated different languages and included images of families to represent PSU’s diverse student body." 关于我们
Student Work @ PSU (formerly known as Fir Northwest) is a student-run, professionally mentored agency. We use creativity and ingenuity to solve business problems and grow brands. Founded in 2011 to provide students with real clients, real stakes, and real-world experiences. Since then we’ve grown to work with many local businesses—some you might recognize—to create successful campaigns and foster the growth of budding advertising professionals. Our managers are ambitious, our strategists are resourceful, our creatives are innovative. Our agency isn’t conventional but our work is remarkable.

Time for another #AlumniSpotlight Today, we're checking in with Sergio Gocobachi, Senior Media Planner at Mekanism. S/W: Do you have any special memories or stories about your time in the program you'd like to share? SG: My most cherished memories include all of the friends I made at FIR. Every brainstorming session we did together, every long night, every drink - those are the memories that have stuck with me the most. S/W: How did your time in the program help prepare you for your career? SG: I was in FIR during the Doug Lowell era from Summer 2019 through March 2020, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I eventually found myself at Wieden + Kennedy post-college and I was genuinely surprised by how much Doug had modeled FIR after W+K. The similarities were so strong that my first thought at W+K was “This is just like being back at FIR”. It melted my imposter syndrome away. In my experience, FIR did an incredible job preparing me for my career, especially at an agency like Wieden + Kennedy. S/W: Tell us what you've been up to since graduating. SG: Immediately after leaving school, it was difficult to land my first ‘big kid job’ out of college, and did everything in my power to do so, including getting certified in Google Ads, Meta, and Twitter, and even offering my services for free to small businesses around town running Facebook ads for them in order to beef up my resume. This all led to landing my first job at a marketing agency based out of Lake Oswego called, Logical Position as an account manager. I was so grateful for the role, but I missed working at a creative agency (like FIR Northwest) desperately. So, I began meeting and speaking with people at every ad agency who would talk to me in Portland and one thing led to another and I landed a job at Wieden + Kennedy as a media planner for the Old Spice account. I was there for 2.5 years before moving on to a new opportunity at Mekanism in their Seattle office as a senior media planner. I have been at Mek for 8 months now and loving it.

We are delighted to share that Student Work @ PSU has won our first award at the ThinkNW 2024 Cascadia Creative Awards. The team took home Gold and Best in Category for our brand work with Northwest Cannabis Company. We'd like to thank our clients at NWCC for working with us and trusting us with their brand. Award-winning work requires brave clients who trust their partners to deliver. Thank you for trusting us with your brand. We'd also like to thank Benji Brucker and Peter Yue (AKA, Penji) for their mentorship and coaching. Without your direction, we would still be spinning our creative wheels.
