Over the past several months, our team has had the privilege of working with American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) TCUs to support assessment of, and planning for, their student success initiatives. We had the pleasure of visiting each campus, getting to know the people who work at each, as well as the land and community around them. In parallel, we’ve also supported AIHEC itself with strategic planning, which began this past summer with the AIHEC Board and will continue this week with their staff. Student-Ready Strategies' Abbey E. Ivey and Katalina (Kata) Traxler, Ph. D attended the Talent Strong Texas Pathways Institute with the Texas Success Center this week to formally launch the Translating Opportunity Texas initiative. We were thrilled to meet the team members from the participating colleges, who all showed up ready to work and improve educational outcomes for Multilingual Learners of English (MLE) students. We look forward to working together throughout this project!

This week’s election results have left many experiencing a range of thoughts and emotions. For those of you who are wading through complex feelings, unanswered questions, and uncertainty about what the future will bring - we are right there with you. We are left wondering what new leadership will mean for our nation’s students and its educational institutions, and for our own families and loved ones. But we know one thing for sure: the SRS team remains steadfast to our mission of helping postsecondary institutions evolve and ensure the success of diverse students with complex lives. To our college and university partners: In times of transition, collaboration and innovation become even more crucial. We stand ready to support you through any challenges that may arise, doing what we do best—partnering, planning, and problem-solving with you to create a student-ready world, institution by institution. Together, we can continue to adapt and thrive, always keeping our focus on student success. Over the coming weeks and months, we will seek to better understand both the causes and effects of this pivotal election decision, and share actionable takeaways and pragmatic advice with our entire network of partners. In the meantime, we will move forward with determination, discipline, and unwavering commitment to an inclusive and effective system of higher education.

Packed house for our session today at the CAEL conference for our session on overcoming capacity constraints. It reinforces what we keep seeing - it’s not a lack of good ideas, lack or caring, or lack or commitment to the structural changes that make institutions student-ready. It’s the fact that there are limitations to how far people can stretch their capacity and they are being asked to do A LOT. We hope we gave our session participants some pragmatic advice to help and appreciated learning from them!! Plus, fancy cheesecake.

There is truly nothing like a crisp fall morning on a beautiful college campus.
