I often get asked if I still use my journalism skills in my current work. The answer??Absolutely. The planning that goes into large-scale conferences like?SXSW EDU?takes an enormous amount of work. But what many don’t realize is that organizing a?single session?requires its own level of strategy and coordination. From refining the focus to ensuring panelists are aligned in their messaging, there’s a behind-the-scenes effort that, in many ways, mirrors the fast-paced world of broadcast news. This year at?SXSW EDU 2025, I was reminded just how much those skills come into play—and I reflected on that experience in a blog for?Student-Ready Strategies.
