If you’re interested in new methods for unconventional reservoir analysis, you won’t want to miss this! Join this meeting with NSI Technologies, LLC on Wednesday, January 22nd at 9 am CT. Dr. Zoya Heidari, Professor in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, will present “Advanced Completion-Oriented Rock Analysis in Unconventional Reservoirs.” This session will dive into innovative techniques for assessing fluid mobility, pore network complexities, and solid-fluid interfacial interactions—key insights that can enhance completion decisions and overall recovery. Highly recommended for anyone eager to stay at the forefront of petroleum engineering and geosystems research. ????Hook’em!
Hello Everyone and thank you for joining us weekly during our live Wed(NSI)days! This week we are excited to welcome Zoya Heidari, Professor in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at The The University of Texas at Austin Our guest speaker will be sharing a presentation titled: Advanced Completion-Oriented Rock Analysis in Unconventional Reservoirs Complex spatial distribution of solid/fluid rock components (i.e., rock fabric), composition, pore structure, and geochemistry make formation evaluation and completion decisions challenging in spatially heterogeneous unconventional and tight resources. The conventional rock physics models, experimental techniques, and formation evaluation methods often do not quantitatively consider the aforementioned complexities in rock properties, which leads to unreliable estimates of reserves and formation properties and significantly affects hydrocarbon recovery and prediction of water production in organic-rich mudrocks. In this presentation, new unconventional methods will be introduced to enhance rock analysis in the presence of complex mineralogy/pore network, organic matter, and tight pore structure. Examples of methods developed for assessment of solid-fluid interfacial interactions and fluid mobility in complex rocks will be presented and their impacts on production will be discussed. The introduced methods enable expedited and improved fluid mobility assessment and provide possible solutions to deviate from perfectly cut cylindrical core plugs for core analysis. The outcomes of recent advancements in experimental and computational research will be presented and the value of integration of experimental and computational work will be discussed. Impacts of these research developments include improved description of multi-phase fluid transport and reservoir characterization in organic-rich mudrocks with the intent to enhance completion decisions and recovery factors. Join us this week in welcoming our guest speaker and participating in what is sure to be a great discussion! Wednesday, January 22nd at 9 am CT Topic: Advanced Completion-Oriented Rock Analysis in Unconventional Reservoirs Guest Speaker: Zoya Heidari, Professor in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at The The University of Texas at Austin Host: Dante Guerra, Ph.D., President, NSI Technologies, LLC FREE Registration Link:?https://lnkd.in/e8QWq5A #innovation?#technology?#energy?#oilgas?#production?#oilandgas?#cloud?#hydrocarbons?#offshore?#oilandgasindustry?#oilfield?#oil?#gas?#petroleum?#drilling?#oilindustry?#energystrong?#onshore?#oilandgasexploration?#permianbasin?#upstream?#permian?#completions?#frac?#shale?#eagleford?#reservoir?#geomechanics?#hydraulicfracturing?#bakken

The SPWLA Student Chapter at UT Austin had an incredible opportunity to visit the Baker Hughes Technology and Education Centers! During the trip, we got a look at how logging is done, explored advanced tools, and even toured a rig. We also saw how Baker Hughes develops cutting-edge tools and technologies. We ended the day with an engaging and informative presentation from their geoscience team. A big thank you to Ali Eghbali for organizing and hosting this amazing event, and to Amer Hanif for his continuous support and help with coordination. Special thanks to Dr. Carlos Torres-Verdin and Zoya Heidari for their ongoing guidance, and to Dr. Matthew Balhoff and the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering for always encouraging these enriching and educational experiences.
