At $465 million, Gathering Place For Tulsa, OK is the largest private gift to a public park in U.S. history. Structural Engineering Associates, Inc. is proud to be a part of this history. This transformation of nearly 100 acres designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates Inc. (MVVA) has multiple playgrounds and more than 160 play structures. Two incredible buildings designed by Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects and Structural Engineering Associates, Inc. are the Williams Lodge and the ONEOK Boathouse. One of the many amazing projects recently completed by our company, Structural Engineering Associates in Kansas City, is the Crespin Art Piece at the Nelson Art Gallery.?We were a key part of the design team for mounting and securing this dynamic art installation, working directly with the artist and the gallery through all phases of the project. Elias Crespin (1965-) is a Venezuelan artist who now lives in Paris.?He uses sophisticated custom software to control motors that animate the modular geometric designs he creates.?Like his other pieces around the world, the Grand HexaNet Display in the Nelson Art Gallery consists of arrangements of metal hand-formed elements that create geometric volumes that appear to be suspended in midair.?The piece constantly shifts and mutates, challenging the concepts of form, space, movement, and time.
