Mindset is the foundation of success, especially when it comes to becoming an innovator, entrepreneur, or tech professional. At Streetcode, we believe that the right mindset makes dreams a reality. Our teachers and mentors, who come from the same communities as our students, show BIPOC youth exactly what success looks like and how to get there. We don’t just teach tech—we teach the language of tech and business, breaking down complex concepts so our students can speak about them fluently. By nurturing the belief that they can achieve anything, we empower students to pursue opportunities with confidence and clarity. Together, we’re creating a new generation of innovators, leaders, and changemakers. Let’s help the next wave of tech professionals believe in themselves, so they can achieve greatness. ???? #MindsetMatters #TechForAll #FutureLeaders #Streetcode #InnovationStartsHere

Did you know that tech jobs are some of the fastest-growing career paths in today’s economy? In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the tech industry will grow by 11% over the next decade, much faster than the average for all other occupations. ?? At Streetcode, we’re committed to ensuring that young people from underserved communities don’t miss out on this opportunity. By providing access to tech education, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we’re helping them gain the skills they need to succeed in this booming industry. "All too often, when we see injustices, both great and small, we think, 'That's terrible, but we do nothing. We say nothing. We let other people fight their own battles. We remain silent because silence is easier... When we say nothing, when we do nothing, we are consenting to these trespasses against us." — Roxane Gay At Streetcode, we believe that silence in the face of inequality is no longer an option. The tech industry, like many others, faces a lack of diversity and representation, and the status quo is simply not good enough. We have the power to change it, and we must act. By providing access to tech education and mentorship, Streetcode is not just talking about the need for change – we’re taking action to empower underserved communities and provide pathways to success. Together, we can be the ones who make the change, not just observe it. Let’s speak up, take action, and ensure a more inclusive future for all. ???? #DiversityInTech #TechForAll #LeadershipThroughAction #Streetcode #InclusiveInnovation

  • Diversity in tech is still a major hurdle, and the numbers don’t lie. ?? Only 8% of workers and just 3% of executives in the U.S. tech industry are Black, and the impact is being felt at every level, from the hiring process to the executive suite. Despite companies’ increased focus on diversity and inclusion, these efforts aren’t enough to overcome deep-rooted barriers. At Streetcode, we’re committed to changing this narrative by providing Black and underserved youth with the tools, mentorship, and connections to thrive in the tech industry. We’re working to ensure that tomorrow’s tech leaders are as diverse as the world they’re building. ???? Chief Executive Officer at StreetCode Academy

For the last 5 weeks (since the election), I’ve wanted more positive conversations about what’s *good* happening in the world. For the last 5 months (since our Culture & Tech Series), I’ve wanted to explore what's good when we combine our community’s culture with technology. For the last 10 years (since starting StreetCode), I’ve wanted to talk about how tech can be a game-changer for making money. And for the last 20 years (since meeting Frederick Alexander at Stanford), I’ve known that every conversation gets realer when it includes my brother, Frederick Alexander. That’s why I’m excited to kick off StreetCode LIVE (hosted by Frederick and me) with none other than Affion Crockett—someone who has mastered the art of blending culture, comedy, storytelling and technology to create and innovate. Join us for this first convo—it’s going down tomorrow, Wednesday at 4p on our StreetCode IG @streetcodeacademy. It's going to be . . . . . co-hosted by Shoe Palace & @Stanford IDA
