Duration: 8-12 weeks, 4/10 work schedule ? Application Deadline: Rolling basis (interviews begin December 16, 2024) About the Role: -Interns will work alongside experienced biologists on tasks like restoration site monitoring, revegetation and invasive plant management, and field vegetation surveys. Be prepared for outdoor work in variable weather conditions and occasional overnight travel. The Stream + Wetlands Foundation (S+W) is an non-profit company based in Lancaster, Ohio. Since our establishment in 1992, we have been an innovative leader in the field of wetland and stream habitat restoration. Our work is funded primarily through payments received from permit applicants that are required to provide compensatory mitigation for unavoidable impacts to aquatic resources. S+W also completes complex and cost effective habitat restoration projects through various state, federal, and non-profit grant programs. S+W has restored, enhanced, and protected more than 4,000 acres of wetland and upland habitats, and nearly 30 miles of streams and associated riparian corridors.

Stream + Wetlands Foundation has received its final credit release from the Granger Wetlands Mitigation Bank in Medina County, Ohio! The bank's geographic service area for jurisdictional wetlands includes the Rocky River watershed west of Cleveland and the portions of the Cuyahoga River watershed in Summit and Cuyahoga Counties. The project restored a mosaic of forested and emergent wetlands across a former tile-drained agricultural field. S+W donated the bank to Medina County Park District (the site's long term steward) in 2019 and it was opened to the public as a wildlife sanctuary in late 2023. Stream + Wetlands Foundation is thrilled to announce that we are working with The Dawes Arboretum, in collaboration with the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) and Microsoft’s Datacenter Community Affairs team, to implement the Rolling Hills Meadow Wetland Restoration project at the Arboretum in Licking County, #Ohio. This project aims to restore ~2.5 acres of #wetland in a recently abandoned, tile-drained agricultural field. The restoration work will improve water quality and habitat while providing opportunities for community engagement and volunteer events. Construction is expected to start in fall 2024. I am excited to share that a population of Heuchera parviflora, also known as the Cave Alumroot, a unique and threatened plant species here in Ohio was found on one of the Stream + Wetlands Foundation habitat restoration sites! This rare plant, with its delicate small flowers and love for cool, rocky habitats, is a vital part of our ecosystem and contributes to the biodiversity we are fortunate to have in our region.I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the protection and preservation of Ohio's flora and fauna.
