We were especially proud to see Jill Albanese, Director of Clinical Services, testify as an expert witness! Over the years, we’ve truly enjoyed supporting HPO initiatives and their incredible work to end Veteran homelessness. While we no longer have a contract supporting HPO due to the rebalancing of priorities in the VA and government as a whole , we’ll always stand behind their mission. Over 20 years working closely with federal employees in health agencies, with a few exceptions, I objectively and definitively know several things. Federal employees: ·??????are often more experienced and adaptable than those I regularly engage in private industry, ·??????generally mirror the civilian workforce by percentage, racially and ethnically, but are more educated on average, ·??????are 30% Veterans, with more than half of those being disabled, ·??????represent less than 2% of the entire U.S. workforce, compared to many other industrialized nations that average over 20% for their federal workforce, ·??????work mostly outside (80%) of the Washington, DC area in all our communities, and this percentage has remained relatively the same for the past 20 years, ·??????went through a rigorous recruitment and promotion process, which most in the civilian workforce could not have easily navigated, ·??????are on average, for those with higher degrees, less compensated than their civilian counterparts, ·??????are not overtly focused on personal gain, but fervently dedicated to serving others and making America consistently better for all of us, and ·??????were always looking out for my best interests, and the long-term benefits to me, my family, and my community are immeasurable.
