To celebrate #NationalRuralHealthDay, Stratis Health President and CEO Jennifer Lundblad hosts a conversation in our latest podcast about how rural hospitals, especially rural emergency departments, can improve care for their older adult patients while contributing to building a fair, just, and equitable health care system. Jennifer is joined by two expert colleagues, Kevin Biese, associate professor of emergency and internal medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine and co-principal investigator at the Geriatrics Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC), and Kristie Foster, the emergency department nurse manager at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD) in Lebanon, New Hampshire. APD was the nation's first rural critical access hospital to achieve geriatric emergency department accreditation. Listen at: https://ow.ly/myPJ50UbRyg #PowerOfRural

On the second day of the Minnesota Department of Human Services ReCLASifying Sustainability Conference, Nicole Gackstetter and I had the opportunity to hear from more of the community partners working to meaningfully implement the culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) standards in their work. The team from Alluma shared a bit about their Justice-Equity-Diversity-Inclusion (JEDI!) journey in rural and frontier communities in northeastern Minnesota. With funding from Minnesota Department of Human Services, Stratis Health is developing a CLAS toolkit that will be available in the coming months on our Culture Care Connection website - https://lnkd.in/gUDqtDgz. Nicole Gackstetter and I have the privilege of attending the “ReCLASifying Sustainability: Legislative Strategies and Community Practices” conference hosted by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Among the sessions today, the team from CLUES shared a wonderful presentation about Día de los Muertos complete with a beautiful ofrenda, delicious pan de muerto, and a fun marigold craft. Through funding from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Stratis Health has the opportunity to provide support to and learn from amazing organizations like CLUES as they work to meaningfully implement and advance the national Culuturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards.
