I’ve been reflecting on how work is evolving and the possible implications. It’s frustrating when we stick to old ways just because “that’s how it’s always been done,” especially when those ways perpetuate discriminatory systems. Consider this: women have only been able to get a business loan without a male co-signer for 36 years. The 9-5 workday was introduced in 1926 when only about 20% of the “workforce” was women, essentially ignoring their unpaid household labor. As work changes, I hope we all scrutinize and challenge these arbitrary systems.

The pandemic sparked a shift in my relationship with work. As an elder Millennial, I once tied my self-worth to corporate success, seeing it as validation.
