?? What do SHR MBAs do in week eight of the spring semester when job and graduate assistantship searching, midterms, and first year core class finals are weighing heavy? They attend an off-site applied learning class that focuses on developing team-building, communication, and problem-solving skills at Escape This! Madison's weather was almost perfect; it was a fantastic day to leave the confines of Grainger Hall. Special shoutout to Mahina Adams for organizing this interactive applied learning session!

? SHR Undergrad Student Spotlight ? Meet human resources undergrad, Owen Harris! Owen is a junior at the Wisconsin School of Business, majoring in Management and Human Resources with certificates in Consulting and Environmental Studies. He was a main driver in helping to reboot and reinstate HUMAN Capital, a student organization dedicated to fostering open conversations about the personal and professional challenges students face in business; an organization for which he serves as President. Owen is also currently serving as the Director of Events for UW-Madison's student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), where he works to coordinate and plan?networking, educational, and professional development opportunities for students interested in management and HR. Fun fact: Owen is also the Dance Captain for a student performance group on campus known as the Wisconsin Singers! Owen is largely passionate about recruitment and talent acquisition as HR functions, wanting to focus on strategies to attract, engage, train, and retain top talent.?Being part of the HR community at UW-Madison has allowed him to connect with peers and professionals who share his passion for talent acquisition and management. Through SHRM and HUMAN Capital, Owen has gained hands-on experience in recruitment strategies and learned from industry leaders about the evolving workforce. Owen enjoys collaborating with other students to develop versatile skills for any profession. The SHR Center is proud to connect with such amazing HR undergrads and help them develop into the future leaders of HR.

? SHR Undergrad Student Spotlight ? Meet human resources undergrad, Natalie Gumina! Natalie is an undergraduate Management Human Resources and Marketing senior at the Wisconsin School of Business. She is the president of Rotaract-UW, an organization affiliated with the Rotary Club of Madison, and an active member of the UW-Madison student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. About her experience on campus, Natalie says "My favorite part of being in human resources at UW-Madison is the wide network of HR professionals that undergraduate students have access to. Through both SHRM UW-Madison and WSB classes/events, I have had several wonderful opportunities to connect with HR professionals." Kudos to Natalie for being such an example of our wonderful HR undergrads! The SHR Center is excited to support our human resources BBAs and help them develop into the future leaders of HR.

Today, the Wisconsin School of Business hosted the Wisconsin MBA Alumni Panel: Black in the Boardroom! SHR was proud to have three of our alumni participate: Zena Stephens Joy, MBA, SHRM-SCP, Kayla Anne Lewis, and Marcus Alston. The session provided valuable insights into the Black student experience and offered a deeper look into the professional journeys of our alumni. Here are some of our key takeaways: Stay authentic, visible, and true to yourself, even in environments with bias. Mentorship and networking are essential, but reading can also serve as a powerful coach. Prioritize self-care and set boundaries in your professional life. Make the most of the resources available to you. You get out what you put in. Recognition starts with you.
