  • Ban Pre-seed in gaming. Founders think they need $500k, $1M to validate their game idea. But the best gaming companies started with $0 and a demo: → Minecraft: Started as a basic Java game → Among Us: Basic prototype, 2 months to build → Stardew Valley: One developer, no funding → Valheim: Early access with core gameplay loop They all focused on one thing: Showing real player interest before raising Want to build a mobile game? Focus on core mechanic. Ship an MVP. Run a beta test. Making a PC title? Build a Vertical. Launch early access. Make a Steam wishlist. Stop pitching decks. Start shipping playable builds. The market doesn't lie, players will tell you if your game is worth funding. Data speaks louder than pitch decks. It will give you leverage when it’s time to raise. This is what we help founders do at Strategic Growth Agency: → Build the right thing → Get early traction → Scale with confidence → Raise with leverage Don’t burn $500K guessing. Earn your momentum. ?? Follow Strategic Growth Agency for tactical growth playbooks, operations strategies, and GTM systems that work.

  • After 15+ years in gaming development, here's what kills 90% of gaming startups. The 3 devastating mistakes that destroy promising games: 1. The 'Bunker' mindset Hiding away for 12 months building without feedback. The market doesn't care about your "perfect vision." 2. Chasing trending mechanics "Let's add battle royale!" By launch, the trend is dead. So is your game. 3. Feature creep death spiral "Just one more system to polish..." *watches runway evaporate* What actually works: → Launch bare minimum in 90 days → Get brutal player feedback immediately → Double down on core gameplay loop → Let data guide iterations, not ego Perfect games collect dust. "Good enough" games make millions. I've watched both. The difference is speed to market. Your game isn't art. It's a product. Ship it.

Founder & CEO of Howdy.com | YC W21 | I have many kids, many cows, and have raised many millions

My company just hit $30 million ARR and the best piece of advice I can give any founder building their company is this: *Nail it before you scale it* Raising a whole bunch of money is bad for early-stage companies. There are too many opportunities for false signals of success. Examples: - you can buy a bunch of customers or users (but they churn) - you can have a high employee count (this is not a signal of success) - your product has a lot of bells and whistles (but it is a Frankenstein of a product) Solve one painful thing for people and blow them away. If you can nail it with very few resources and your product or service delights people, that's when you scale it and pour gasoline on the fire.

  • Hiring for execution alone gets you 80% completion rates and a 4/10 user score. 63% of tech projects fail due to poor foresight (PMI, 2024). The difference-maker? Leaders who demand, “And then what?” Second-order thinkers don’t just ship, they strategize. They’re why: - Netflix preempted streaming latency spikes. - Riot Games nerfed patches before player churn hit. - NVIDIA doubled down on AI chips pre-boom. They save millions by seeing what’s next. To hire them: → Ask: “This feature launches, what’s the bottleneck in 6 months?” → Test: “Cut dev time 20%, what’s the ripple effect?” Blank stares mean they’re not C-suite material. Data backs this: Companies with proactive decision-makers grow 2.5x faster (McKinsey, 2023). Pattern recognition beats task completion. You can raise $100M in a Series B. You can’t buy back 18 months lost to a rushed roadmap. The math is simple: Pick thinkers who prevent fires, not firefighters. Get Clarity, Momentum, and Results. ?? Tactical Solutions. • Meetings That Go Nowhere We've worked with dozens of tech and gaming companies in the past two years. The biggest drag on execution? Wasted meeting time. → 35-40% of work hours are spent in meetings → More than half of those meetings lack clear outcomes → Senior leaders lose an average of 23 hours per week in unproductive calls Here’s what companies operating at speed do differently: 1?? Command Centers, Not Chaos → One central document for priorities, updates, and ownership → Three clear objectives to focus efforts → Zero back-and-forth on “what’s next?” 2?? Single-Point Accountability → Every initiative has ONE clear owner → No shared responsibility, ownership drives outcomes → No “let’s circle back” delays 3?? Tactical Briefings, Not Status Meetings → 90-second updates → Focus only on blockers, decisions, and next steps → Eliminate ‘just checking in’ meetings The Impact? → Execution speeds up → Meeting time drops by 60-80% → Teams shift from talking about work to actually doing it Cutting unproductive meetings isn’t about saving time, it’s about regaining focus and momentum. ?? Which meeting format is slowing your team down the most?

  • Stop Wasting Months on Features No One Uses Most product teams aren't failing because they lack ideas. They're failing because they’re building features no one wants. Here’s why: → PMs are stuck chasing executive wishlists → Teams copy competitors instead of solving real problems → “Industry best practices” become a lazy fallback The result? ? Months of development wasted ? Resources drained ? Zero impact What Actually Works: 1. Give PMs Ownership of Outcomes, Not Features → Define clear success metrics tied to revenue, retention, or engagement → Hold PMs accountable for results, not output → Stop micromanaging the process, trust your PMs to own the "how" 2. Implement Scientific Experimentation → Test hypotheses, not opinions → Run small, controlled experiments before scaling → Kill failed ideas fast, before they drain resources 3. Create Continuous Feedback Loops → Schedule weekly user interviews → Base roadmap decisions on data, not guesses → Iterate quickly, the faster you test, the faster you win One team we worked with replaced 6 months of backlog with 2-week experiments. Result? → 3x faster feature adoption → 47% higher engagement → 91% satisfaction rates on features users actually wanted Stop building what you think users want. Start solving what they actually need. Q2 is coming fast, if you’re serious about scaling faster without wasted resources: ?? Book a Free Strategy Session → https://lnkd.in/dBJPEiy5 ?? • Building a company is like peeling an onion. Each layer reveals a new challenge. Most founders think having a great strategy is enough. But here's what actually kills companies: ? Misaligned teams ? Shifting priorities ? Unclear roadmaps ? No execution plan The solution? Lock in your execution BEFORE the quarter starts: 1. Create high-level roadmaps for every vertical 2. Define clear KPIs and execution plans 3. Get leadership alignment 4. No mid-quarter pivots 5. Review progress bi-weekly The difference between 7-figure companies and those that fail? Not strategy. Not talent. Not funding. It's execution. You can have the best strategy in the world... But if your team isn't aligned on how to execute it, you're just writing ideas on paper. Think about it: When was the last time you actually finished a quarter exactly as planned?

  • Most companies have a North Star metric. But they're missing something crucial, Their teams aren't aligned with it. Here's what happens: ? Marketing chases MQLs ? Sales pursues any deal ? Product builds random features ? Support focuses on ticket volume Everyone optimizes for their own metrics. The solution? 1. Define ONE company-wide metric (that represents true business success) 2. Break it down by department (show how each team impacts it) 3. Create weekly checkpoints (to ensure alignment) 4. Link compensation to it (incentivize the right behavior) 5. Make it visible (dashboards everywhere) When everyone rows in the same direction, growth becomes inevitable. The hard part isn't picking the metric, It's getting your entire company to care about it. What's your company's North Star?

  • ?? More Features Won't Fix Your Already Broken Product. Most founders believe adding more features is the key to fixing low engagement or poor retention. Wrong. More features often = More complexity. More confusion. More bugs. Instead, start with this 3-step 1?? Refine Your Core Loop: Does your core mechanic hook players within the first 5 minutes? Cut anything that doesn’t reinforce that loop. 2?? Fix Onboarding First: If users leave on Day 1, fixing your monetization won’t matter. Simplify your FTUE, fewer steps, faster dopamine hits. 3?? Track KPIs Ruthlessly: D1, D7, D30 retention, no PMF without these. Optimize conversion funnels before adding more content. ?? Polish what works. Cut what doesn’t. Add features only when KPIs prove demand. Your product needs better, not more.
