    In January, most Top 25 Markets continued to realize TRevPAR growth, with only Denver, Chicago, New Orleans and Oahu seeing lower levels. On the GOPPAR side, only three markets reported >$20 difference: D.C., Las Vegas, and Atlanta.

    Natural disasters undoubtedly impact hotel demand patterns in the short term, but their impact can persist depending on the severity. Take the two hurricanes from early-fall 2024 as an example. Markets affected by Helene and Milton are still seeing elevated demand even with recent softening.? ? ??Midscale and Economy chains saw the highest lift with minimal impact on Luxury and Upper Upscale. Four markets saw 21 consecutive weeks of double-digit RevPAR growth: ???North Carolina West ???Augusta, GA ???Greenville/Spartanburg, SC ???Columbia, SC ???Nine other markets are still elevated, though momentum is slowing as spring break travel ramps up: Charlotte, Daytona Beach, Florida Central (North & South), Georgia South, Macon/Warner Robins, Sarasota, South Carolina Area and Tampa.?

    U.S. RevPAR was up just 0.6% in the first full week of March, with a strong start but weaker finish in key markets like New Orleans, Nashville, L.A. and Denver.     The Netherlands will operate at a 9% VAT rate for hotel accommodation over the rest of 2025. In January 2026, that rate will jump to 21%. Here are some things to know in anticipation: ??When the VAT rate for hotel accommodation was changed in 2019, ADR fell by 2.2% with declines observed across every day of the week. ??Occupancy remained flat, partly supported by relatively stable supply growth in 2019. ??The tourist tax payable in Amsterdam increased in January 2024, which impacted weekend leisure travel. ??Weekdays could show minimal impact, as business travelers are less affected by cost. ?? In Dublin, lower rates were reported around the same time VAT rate changes were introduced.
