Natural disasters undoubtedly impact hotel demand patterns in the short term, but their impact can persist depending on the severity. Take the two hurricanes from early-fall 2024 as an example. Markets affected by Helene and Milton are still seeing elevated demand even with recent softening.? ? ??Midscale and Economy chains saw the highest lift with minimal impact on Luxury and Upper Upscale. Four markets saw 21 consecutive weeks of double-digit RevPAR growth: ???North Carolina West ???Augusta, GA ???Greenville/Spartanburg, SC ???Columbia, SC ???Nine other markets are still elevated, though momentum is slowing as spring break travel ramps up: Charlotte, Daytona Beach, Florida Central (North & South), Georgia South, Macon/Warner Robins, Sarasota, South Carolina Area and Tampa.?
