The Programmable IP License (PIL)—Bridging Real-World IP and Digital Assets The PIL is a universal license agreement template that bridges real-world intellectual property with its onchain tokenization. It uses US copyright law to create a framework where IP owners can set their own rules for licensing, commercialization, and remixing of their creations. When you register IP on Story Network, you're leveraging the PIL to give your digital assets real-world legal standing. This means actions taken on the network, like issuing licenses, have legal weight. The PIL effectively merges the world of code with the world of law, opening up new possibilities for IP management in the digital age. Beyond using the PIL as a starting point to onramp IP quickly, developers can choose to implement their own license agreement templates in the future.
