Huge kudos to the rockstar staff in my strategic area who went above and beyond to develop outstanding poster presentations showcasing high-impact practices like orientation, internships, mentorship programs, and career outcomes! It was a true pride moment to see our area represented with such creativity, passion, and data-driven insights. And to top it off, one of our own took home the presentation award! Well deserved! Grateful to work alongside such a dedicated and talented team.

What a great day to be an Osprey! ?? Started off the day hosting our first Employee Lunch & Learn series where faculty and staff had the opportunity to learn about current trends in nicotine and tobacco use among college students. They were also provided with various cessation resources by Working Well Tobacco Free NJ and other state organizations. I am grateful for Kim Burns and her team for being such great partners with Stockton University in providing tobacco- and nicotine-related education and resources to our campus community. In the afternoon, a few of my colleagues and I participated in the Stockton Student Affairs Assessment Showcase, where we presented some of the data we have collected in our respective areas of focus. I am extremely proud of my employee Stephanie Allen, MA, for sharing all of her hard work in reducing noncompliance immunization rates and for synthesizing our journey to share with the public. We do a lot of great work in Student Health and Wellness, and it was exciting to highlight some of those efforts through this showcase. Shout out to Ashlee K. Roberts, PhD and Jamael A. Harrison, Ph.D. for providing us with this platform and opportunity!

While the students are on spring break, some of our team members took the opportunity to step into scholarly endeavors by participating in our division’s inaugural Assessment Showcase. We had 18 people across 11 poster submissions present their work to almost 70 attendees! Congratulations to our Director of Student Transition Programs, Candace Mitchell, on winning the showcase! Kudos to the SA Assessment team for designing this event with Jamael A. Harrison, Ph.D.’s leadership! Since January 2024, we’ve designed education and training to bolster our team’s competence and confidence with assessment, and today demonstrated its effectiveness. Thank you to our Academic Affairs colleagues, Jessica Kay, Alaina Walton, and Alyssa Maurice and our tabulators Val Jules from Administration and Finance and our former Office of the VPSA intern Tina Bartleson.

Today is the day! We have 11 posters being presented at our Student Affairs Assessment Showcase.
We are excited to invite the Stockton community to join us at our inaugural Assessment Showcase. Over the past year, our team members have expanded and deepened their knowledge, skills, and competencies around assessment through our Bird's-Eye View series. These poster presentations will feature submitted projects that will be reviewed and scored for placing by a team of reviewers. Presentations will occur from 1pm-3pm in the Campus Center Overlook Lounge (212D) with the reception following.

We’re looking back to our spring division-wide meeting last month. Interim VP William U. Latham, Ph.D. connected our new Makerspace to us as makers through LEGO play, inviting us to take space for creative endeavors that give us room to think more expansively about student success and teamwork. Provost Michael A. Palladino, Ph.D. provided us a great update and clear direction on where Academic Affairs is going under his leadership and how our division aligns. Grady J. Wright, MPA, CNP served as our Clifton Strenghts facilitator, expanding our understanding of our full reports and setting the tone for our leadership team to continue integrating Strengths into our work from the individual through cross-functional teams. He also provided a second day of sessions to prepare our leadership teams to move from managers to coaches. We took a new approach with our afternoon by offering conference style sessions with five sessions across three time blocks. This new model was largely a success, and we’re looking forward to the continued integration of play and Strengths to build a stronger division and better strategies for student success.

We had a great VIP with the VPSA tonight! Drs. William U. Latham, Ph.D., Haley Baum, Ed.D. and Ashlee K. Roberts, PhD truly enjoyed the dinner and conversation. We even had a drop-in from Provost Michael A. Palladino, Ph.D. Hearing our Ospreys’ stories and seeing them connect with each other fuels our work to build a dynamic student experience.
