???? Yesterday was #AgDay! ???? The Commissioners were honored to recognize the vital role of agriculture in our community with a proclamation for National Agriculture Day. We were pleased to welcome representatives from the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau, the Ag & Seafood Board, 4-H, the University of Maryland Extension, the St. Mary's Soil Conservation District, and our Department of Economic Development for this recognition. This month, we've had the privilege of attending two incredible events celebrating our local agricultural community. ?? The 88th Annual St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau Banquet, supporting our local chapter of the Maryland Farm Bureau, who plays a critical role in advocating for agricultural interests, promoting local involvement, and providing valuable resources like scholarship opportunities and news on key agricultural issues. ?? We also celebrated our county’s youngest Ag leaders at the St. Mary’s County 4-H Achievement Banquet! Hardworking youth from multiple clubs were recognized for their dedication and accomplishments over the past year, along with some of the longest-serving 4-H volunteers, including Mary VanRyswick, Ann and John Richards, and Mary Della Trossbach, whose contributions have made a lasting impact. ?? A huge thank you to the organizations, parents, volunteers, and community members who make these programs possible! ?? No Out-of-Pocket Costs for Emergency Ambulance Transport in St. Mary’s County ?? St. Mary’s County Government (SMCG) is reaffirming its soft billing policy for Emergency Medical Services (EMS), ensuring that no patient is personally responsible for our ambulance transport costs. Following recent concerns, SMCG reviewed billing practices and took action to ensure: ? Insurance providers will be billed directly—patients will NOT be charged out-of-pocket costs (co-pays or deductibles). ? No bills have ever been sent to collections. ? The County’s third-party billing agency has been directed to stop patient billing for unpaid balances. ?? "The well-being of our residents is our top priority," said Randy Guy - Commissioner President. "If you need emergency medical assistance, do not hesitate to call 911." ?? Senior Activity Centers (no home-delivered meals) ?? Recreation & Parks programs, facilities, museums & golf course ?? Convenience Centers & St. Andrews Landfill ?? Circuit & District Courts ?? St. Mary’s County Health Department ?? St. Mary’s County Libraries (all branches) ?? St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission Exclusions: ?? St. Mary's Transit System (STS) is open and running normal schedules EXCEPT the Southern Route, which is suspended until noon, resuming service at Tulagi Place and Lexington Park. ??
