关于我们
St. Joseph's College of Nursing was established in 1898. Then, as now, students learned to practice professional nursing with compassion, excellence, vision, enthusiasm and integrity. St. Joseph's continues to educate excellent nurses who share these same values. Since our profession is ultimately about caring for people, we make sure our students get as much hands-on patient care experience as possible. The College of Nursing is fortunate to be affiliated with one of the nation's leading health care facilities, so when our students go into their clinical rotations, they are learning alongside the best nurses in their chosen field.

Introducing the members of the St. Joseph’s College of Nursing’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Council. ? The purpose of this council is to foster an environment that reflects our value of diversity, equity, and inclusion at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing. The JEDI Council would like to introduce and welcome our first two Class Representatives, Catherine Halstead and Susmita Poudel. ?? Catherine: "I was drawn to the JEDI Committee because I believe that we can play a part in addressing systemic inequalities and promoting social justice within our community. Being part of this committee will allow me to contribute my skills and perspectives while learning from others." Susmita: "My name is Susmita, and I was born in Nepal, the country home to the largest mountain in the world known as Mount Everest. I first learned about the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) council during my first semester of nursing school, and from that moment, I just knew I had to be part of it. As someone who comes from a different cultural background, I see the immense value in promoting an environment that celebrates diversity and inclusivity, especially within a college as culturally varied as ours. Being on the JEDI council is more than just a role for me—it’s a platform to amplify voices and perspectives that often go unheard. I understand the power of representation and believe that embracing our differences enriches our community, making it more resilient and compassionate. By joining this council, I hope to not only represent my heritage but also foster connections between students of all backgrounds. I aim to contribute to an inclusive atmosphere that embraces each individual’s unique story, much like mine, and in doing so, support a culture of empathy and understanding across campus. Not only as a student nurse but also as a future nurse I strive to promote and use cultural sensitivity when taking care of clients."

On October 18, we encouraged current students and colleagues to join Miss Amy Higgins Day of Service by volunteering. ????? Our college community participated in volunteer activities at Samaritan Center and Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities. St. Joseph's College of Nursing is dedicated to empowering students to engage with their community, a tradition that traces back to Miss Amy Higgins, our first Director of Nurses. In her multifaceted role as nurse, faculty member, student counselor, and even House Mother at night, Miss Amy Higgins was a beacon of service, working to bolster the nursing workforce and address the pressing needs of our community.
