Yesterday, we celebrated Joao Correia, Maintenace Mechanic, in being awarded Mission Champion for November 2024. ? Having been with St. Joseph Hospital since 2002, Joao is known for his unwavering positive attitude and compassionate nature. Although Joao works behind the scenes, he purposely makes an effort that positively impacts both patients and staff. "Joao lives out the Mission of St. Joseph Hospital every single day. Though his role isn't patient-facing, Joao ensures that the needs of patients and staff are met by performing critical facilities work. He helps set up tables and chairs for events held in the atrium, moves supplies for marketing from site to site, and installs banners to promote hospital activities and staff recognition weeks," shares Shannon March, Marketing Specialist. When Joao is not at work, he enjoys watching soccer at home, spending time with his wife, Judite. Together, they cherish quality moments with their son, two daughters, and ten grandchildren! Throughout November, employees here at St. Joseph Hospital took part in the Holiday Card Challenge, a nonprofit organization founded in the Hollis-Brookline community that sends cards to troops, veterans, and military families. Please join us in expressing our gratitude to Ian Leonardi, a soon-to-be Eagle Scout from Troop 773 at St. Christopher Church, for his outstanding Eagle Scout project at St. Joseph Hospital. Ian launched an initiative called "Books for Babies," through which he collected over 650 brand new books over the past year. These books are gifted to new moms and dads in The Birth Center at St. Joseph Hospital, each containing a note that reads: "Congratulations on the birth of your baby. This book is being provided as part of an Eagle Scout Project." Both our staff and the new families are immensely grateful to Ian for his efforts in making the world a better and happier place.
