As a mechanic his responsibilities are to make sure that the cryogenic systems that we built are assembled correctly before being delivered to our customers.?Kostas is one of the youngest in our team, 28 years old and coming from Greece. ??January is coming to an end while we share our monthly insight; please meet Gijs van Wanrooy, Finance Manager at Stirling Cryogenics. Enjoy reading! ???What is your role at Stirling and tell us more about your job? Gijs: "I am the Finance Manager and responsible for all financial matters, relating to the Dutch, US and Swedish administrations. I am also the internal contact person for IT-related matters and insurance. In our finance department I work together with two colleagues and a colleague in HR. In addition to keeping the financial records, we also deal with internal and external reports, and have regular contact with accounts and banks." ? ???What does an average workday at Stirling look like? Gijs: "The day starts with monitoring cash flow, which is important in a project organization like Stirling. Then I make a to-do list of things that need to be done that day or things that are longer term. There are also ad hoc requests from the organization that need to be dealt with that day or later. I am involved in many processes and can contribute in many areas, the work is very broad." ? ???What do you like the most about your job? Gijs: "I have now been with Stirling for six months, taking over from former Finance Manager Eric Roestenberg. It is particularly pleasing that we have worked together for a period before the handover. Eric remains available for consultation before he retires. In addition, doing international business and working with an Italian shareholder brings many interesting issues. The diversity makes for many interesting challenges, which I enjoy tackling." ? ??Looking 5 years ahead of time... Gijs: "Stirling has grown significantly over the last five years. With growth comes new challenges such as accommodation, financing, forecasting and automation, etc. For me, the next period will be all about securing the processes and meeting the information needs of the organization. This will allow us to continue to grow with new applications and new markets." ? ???On a personal note, what are your hobbies? Gijs: "I love sailing, such as short family sailing holidays in Friesland.?I also coach my children in sports, which I enjoy doing. And at the playground in Nuenen, I volunteer as treasurer. I love cycling and cycle to work as much as possible." ? ???Any guilty pleasures to share? Gijs: "I love music, especially music from the 90s, which I then turn on really loud and sing along to. I like the songs of life; André Hazes, Rowen Hèze but also Metallica. On Sunday afternoons, I sometimes cook for my family, put on some music and have a beer with it." ?
