We’re celebrating VESL’s sixth consecutive season! What began in Fall 2022 with just a handful of Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools has now grown into a statewide initiative fully supported across North Carolina. Today, the Varsity Esports & STEM League (VESL) empowers over 4,000 students across 300 active schools—and we’re only getting started. Over the past six seasons, VESL has proven that esports is a gateway to higher education and career opportunities. Many of our students have earned college scholarships, discovered new passions in 3D printing, computer engineering, agritech, and more, and developed valuable skills that will shape their futures. Looking ahead, our vision is clear: expand beyond North Carolina and bring these opportunities to students in neighboring states. With growing support from educators, industry leaders, and policymakers, we’re paving the way for esports and STEM to become a cornerstone of student success nationwide. Tailor your materials to highlight relevant skills and experiences for each position. 3. Ignoring Online Presence: A weak or unprofessional online presence can hurt your chances. Ensure your social media profiles reflect your professionalism and consider building a personal website or portfolio. 4. Not Practicing Interview Skills: Going into interviews unprepared can lead to missed opportunities. Practice common interview questions and conduct mock interviews to build confidence. 5. Overlooking the Importance of Follow-Up: Failing to send a thank-you note or follow-up email after an interview can leave a negative impression. Always express gratitude and reiterate your interest in the position.
