Our founder’s other job! ????
Chief of Public Health and Research at Chickasaw Nation. | CAPTAIN O-6, United States Public Health Service | Creator of Stickadoodles?. | Founder of Sticks That Ahh ?.
I recently shared highlights of the work I’m doing with Sticks that ahh? , my life philosophy brand and creative arts company that creates the connective moments we all need. This week, my “real job” took me in a different direction, a reminder of the inspiration and why I created Sticks that ahh? . Our response on behalf of the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH), to the community of Sulphur, OK, exemplifies the power of connecting moments and how fiercely we come together in the face of tragedy. A high-end EF3 has devastated a humble, blue collar community, leaving a degree of damage and loss that news footage simiply can not convey. After a week on the ground as the Operations Chief for our Emergency Medical Response, I am forever connect to this amazing community and its people. As we transition from response to recovery and rebuilding, I salute all those I was privileged to worked with - Sulphur’s first responders, city officials, the Red Cross and all the volunteers who work to help the community heal. Most importantly, to the citizens of Sulphur, OK, who will continue healing and rebuilding long after everyone leaves, my heart stays with you. Parting thoughts… We will be OK. We will take care of each other. We forget our differences and rediscover our humanity. The wild flowers will bloom and our scars will heal. The news cycle will turn over and we will rebuild. This is our home. We will be OK. We are Oklahoma - in fact, we are more than OK.
