Honoring John and all brave veterans today and every day! Your service, courage, and sacrifices are not forgotten. Thank you!
This Veterans Day, we are honored to shine the spotlight on John D., a General Superintendent at Stewart & Tate Construction and a U.S. Air Force veteran. John’s service journey began in 1983 in the Civil Engineering Squadron, where he ran heavy equipment and worked on runway projects—skills that prepared him well for a successful civilian career in construction spanning 36 years. Stationed at the former Carswell Air Force Base in Texas, John rose quickly through the ranks, becoming a Staff Sergeant at just 22 and leading a team of 48. Reflecting on his time in the Air Force, John credits the experience with shaping his meticulous approach to work and reinforcing his strong sense of situational awareness, both critical for jobsite safety. “In the Air Force, if a task wasn’t done right, there were serious consequences. My service experience taught me to be particular about everything, and I carry that mindset with me today. Every project has to be done correctly and safely,” John shared. For John, Veterans Day is a time for reflection and gratitude. “It’s about honoring the people who put everything on the line. We should never forget the ones who didn’t make it home and the veterans who still need support,” he reflected. John leads by example, actively supporting veterans through a motorcycle riders group he founded at the West York VFW – the VFW Riders Group Post 8951. As the group’s chaplain, he is deeply involved in lifting up his fellow vets, undertaking efforts to help raise funds for unmet needs, and encouraging other veterans not to lose hope in times of immense difficulty. To John and all veterans, thank you for your service and sacrifices. We are grateful for your courage, and we honor you today and always. #StewartCompanies #StewartandTate #VeteransDay #OurTeams #ThankYouForYourService

Our sitework group is making great strides in the right direction at the WellSpan York Hospital Surgical & Critical Care Tower. As we approach the close of the excavation phase, work on the building walls, mat slabs and utilities is in full swing. Stone underlay preparations are also in progress. The initial sitework has laid the foundation for W.O. Grubb Crane Rental, Morrow Equipment Company, Kinsley Steel, and Wings Enterprises to erect a tower crane that will set up the structure's steel. Tight coordination among all contractors is key in ensuring the success of this project. Stay tuned for more updates!

We are incredibly grateful for the many years of dedication and contributions from Mel, Mike, and Brandon!
???????????? ???????????? ?????????????????? ?????????? ?????????????????????? ???? ????????????????, ?????????????? & ???????????????? Working at Stewart Companies is more than a livelihood for three generations of Mundis family members—it's a legacy of learning, growing, and building structures and futures alike. Beginning with Mel Mundis, who enthusiastically passed down his commitment and passion for construction, the generational spirit has been carried on by son Mike and grandson Brandon, who are each making their own marks at Stewart & Tate Construction and York Building Products. We recently had the honor of hearing from them about their purposeful career journeys. ? ?????? ???????????? (?????? ????????????????????) Mel Mundis started his career as an equipment operator at Stewart & Tate. Over the years, his dedication and work ethic led to promotions to foreman and site superintendent. For 43 years, Mel was at the forefront of memorable projects, including the York Galleria Mall and the patient care tower at York Hospital. Reflecting on his family's involvement, Mel shared,?"I'm proud of both my son and grandson for continuing the work we started. I was always a handyman at home, even building my own house, and they would help me with various projects. I think that inspired them to follow in my footsteps into construction." ???????? ???????????? (?????? ????????????????????) Like his father, Mike began his career with Stewart & Tate and later transitioned to York Building Products, where he has been an electrician supporting masonry operations for 30 years. Mike worked directly with his father on projects at Stewart & Tate for about two years before a specialized position in his area of expertise called him to make the move. When asked what it means to see his son join the Stewart Companies, Mike expressed his pride, saying, "I'm proud of him. He started out as a laborer, and now he's a foreman. I hope he continues to grow into leadership positions from a place of honesty and being true to himself." ?????????????? ???????????? (?????? ????????????????????) Brandon has been with Stewart & Tate for six years. Growing up surrounded by construction, Brandon's career choice felt like a natural progression. Now a site superintendent, he credits the influence of both his father and grandfather in shaping his career. ? "I've always been around construction. My dad and grandfather were both in it, and they always said Stewart Companies was a great place to work. I love that I'm able to solve new problems every day and continue learning in this role," Brandon shared. Grandfather Mel added, "I hope Brandon continues to be happy in his role and keeps learning. You learn the most when you're the one in charge, and I know he's got what it takes to succeed." ? We are grateful to Mel, Mike, and Brandon for their dedication in service to our team, clients and communities. THANK YOU for allowing us to be part of your family’s career journey.
