Maryland building owners: ?? It's time to get ready for the state-wide Building Energy Performance Standard?(BEPS)! ?? Maryland is implementing its BEPS for buildings 35,000 square feet and over as a requirement under the?Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022. The proposed regulations have also established benchmarking and reporting deadlines for covered buildings. SWA's Iffat Ridwana, PhD and Adam Szlachetka have summarized what we know and how to prepare for Maryland's BEPS in our new blog post. ?? https://lnkd.in/eVH7fipB Their immediate recommendations for building owners include: ?? Start collecting all building data this year and prepare for the initial benchmarking reporting due in 2025. ?? Plan to identify and make necessary improvements to comply with interim and final BEPS standards. ?? Don't install new gas equipment or replace existing gas equipment with a similar make and model. Just announced! ?? New funding is here to help decarbonize New York City's affordable housing. Available to owners and developers through the Resilient and Equitable Decarbonization Initiative for Existing Buildings (REDi: EB) program, this funding covers the incremental costs of electrification and energy efficiency upgrades to New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) regulated buildings.
