Excited for the Steuben County IDA to be overseeing the process and even more excited the retrofit will be done at the Kanona facility! Very cool project ??

The IDA is excited to have been awarded almost $16 million from the USDOT's Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program in partnership with Alstom, Norfolk Southern, and Binghamton University's New Energy New York! Many thanks to Senator Charles Schumer and our legislative partners for supporting this effort to build the next generation of freight trains at Alstom's Kanona facility in Bath, NY! The two test trains will be retrofitted with hybrid diesel-battery technology to support decarbonization of the freight industry. https://lnkd.in/e6VwRQeT

Thanks to Brian Morrell for the tour of Stern EWS, manufacturer of woven industrial fabrics. Their advanced fabrics can be found in jet engines, wound care products, parachutes, and space suits… all manufactured in #Hornell, NY! In business since 1889, Stern EWS is one of the few companies in the world that can provide custom, industrial fabrics through proprietary “recipes” using Kevlar, Nomex, Nylon, Polyester, and Teflon.
