Stephenson Harwood's Middle East team hosted two key events during the annual Dubai Arbitration Week. On Tuesday 12 November, John Lewis and Caroline Hibberd participated in a panel discussion with members of Outer Temple Chambers, hosted at the firm's Dubai office, on the topic 'A pro-arbitration jurisdiction? Developments in the enforceability of arbitration agreements and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in the UAE.' The panel addressed the key steps and practical considerations that parties should consider when seeking to proceed with the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgements and arbitral awards in the UAE. Later in the week the team hosted their inaugural 'Connecting for a Cause' event in partnership with Al Jalila Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to transforming lives through medical research, education and treatment in the UAE. Each year, the Foundation provides essential medical care to over 3000 children at Al Jalila Children's Hospital, the UAE's first and only dedicated children's hospital. The event was a resounding success, featuring an auction and drawing more than 100 attendees from within the legal industry, raising a significant amount for the Foundation. #DubaiArbitrationWeek #DAW2024
