Our efforts to continuously improve at Stemilt are powered by our Equitable Food Initiative Leadership teams! Steve Edwards, Rosa Perez, Maricela Barbosa and Suzi Villa each play a vital role in teaching others at Stemilt the importance of creating a mentally and physically safe, supportive, and collaborative environment for farmworkers. Meet Maricela and Minerva! These two ladies are part of Stemilt’s Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) Leadership team. In other words, they’re on the front lines of making positive change happen at Stemilt! They, along with 9 other active EFI Leadership teams, meet every month to allow an open space for workers to voice suggestions in a collaborative environment. Here they are sorting apples, which is harder than it seems! They check each piece of fruit as it moves quickly across the packing line looking for anything that could compromise the fruit’s quality ?? We're excited to announce Jana Fischback as Stemilt's new Sustainability Coordinator! In this newly created role, Jana will help us enhance our sustainability efforts by making informed decisions, ensuring we continue our legacy of environmental stewardship and manage our land well for future generations. Jana comes to Stemilt with several years of?experience implementing sustainability programs within organizations including Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington, and Metro Parks Tacoma.
