    Preparing for the 4th Quarter by Katie Conaway In the benefits industry, the fourth quarter is our busiest time—our Super Bowl. I work closely with onsite benefit counselors, handling everything from scheduling to meeting preparations. Here’s how I gear up for the hectic season: Plan Ahead Review all calendars—personal, counselor, and team—to ensure key dates like enrollment periods, training sessions, and deadlines are marked. Schedule as many fourth-quarter meetings as possible in advance. Set clear attendance expectations and ask that any conflicts be communicated to Steele. Stay Organized Use my task list, populated by our software, to stay on top of current tasks and anticipate upcoming deadlines. Maintain an updated database of counselors committed to working with us and reflect their availability in the scheduling tool. Keep a clean, clutter-free workspace to stay focused and productive. Self-Care Manage workload by scheduling lunch or break times. Stepping away from the desk for a bit helps me recharge. Reach out to teammates when stuck on a task or in need of feedback. Collaboration often leads to the best outcomes, reminding us we are all working towards the same goal. By planning, staying organized, and practicing self-care, you can navigate a busy quarter with confidence and efficiency. Remember, preparation is key to a successful benefits enrollment period!
