关于我们
Our mission is to operate a safe, efficient, and reliable transportation system for the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket with a commitment to sustainability, accessibility, our port communities, and public engagement. The Steamship Authority is the largest ferry service to the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from Cape Cod, serving over 3 million passengers each year. We offer the lowest fares and the most frequent daily departures for passengers, automobiles, groups and trucks. Martha’s Vineyard ferries depart from Woods Hole and Nantucket ferries depart from Hyannis. Our seasonal high-speed passenger ferry, the M/V Iyanough, gets you to Nantucket, dock-to-dock, in just an hour. Since 1960, we have been the lifeline to the Islands year-round. Our U.S. Coast Guard-certified crews are committed to the highest level of safety at sea. We are also dedicated to making your trip both comfortable and convenient with spacious seating, snack bars with beverages including beer, wine and mixed drinks and free Wi-Fi and TV on-board. For a perfect day trip, or a longer getaway, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket make wonderful destinations—with magnificent beaches, charming scenery and fabulous shopping and dining. Visitors can take advantage of convenient public transportation to our mainland docks, and bus service as well as taxis, car rentals and bike rentals on the Islands.

Thanks to the Alabama Shipyard LLC for posting these photos, we love seeing the transition of the future M/V Monomoy ferry. She's looking good. #steamshipauthority
It’s time to kick off another exciting conversion! Last week, Alabama Shipyard welcomed its third Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV), and work is already underway to transform it into a ferry, just like its two sister ships. The initial step involved moving the OSV onto land to facilitate the main conversion work. We began by docking the vessel on the Dry Dock Alabama and transferring it onto a barge. Using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), we carefully rolled the OSV off the barge and onto land. The process went off without a hitch, thanks to the expertise and dedication of our talented employees and subcontractors!

Sadie Bard you will be missed. Come on back soon!
I recently completed my 12-week Communications and Marketing Internship with The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority (The Steamship Authority) at their headquarters in Falmouth, Massachusetts. This summer, I had the unique opportunity to apply my creative communications and marketing capabilities to a government agency within the travel/transportation industry. I gained hands-on experience in branding, graphic design, copywriting, and content creation. Specifically, I developed and managed social media content across Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn platforms, implemented key SEO strategies into blog writing, and maintained the advertising program and department assets across ten vessels, five terminals, and two islands! I enjoyed working in such a fast-paced and dynamic environment. A big THANK YOU to my amazing team for all of your guidance and support—especially my accomplished supervisor Sean Driscoll, and the talented Marketing and Creative Specialists, Sheila Corcoran and Ian Nichols. I’m grateful for all of the experiences I gained through my internship with The Steamship Authority, and am eager to apply what I’ve learned in my final year at Penn State University and in my future endeavors! #SSA #SSACareers #Marketing #Communications

?? We loved having two interns with us this summer. ?? First up, Michael Notaro attends Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Mike fully embraced and supported the Authority’s Safety Quality Management System working with our director of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental, Bridget Sullivan.? ?? Next up, Sadie Bard attends Penn State with a focus in advertising. Sadie assisted our Communications and Marketing team writing content for blog and social media posts. She was able to ride on all passenger ferries to interview our crews and helped put together our Friday "Guess the Vessel" games! ?? Thanks to Mike and Sadie for a great summer! #ComeOnBack #YouMakeUsShine
