Only a few iconic images in our industry beckon a feeling hard to forget. Steamboat's legendary barn poster with riders on horseback with their skis is the epitome of what makes Steamboat, Steamboat. Jo Semotan was the smiling cowgirl who brought the image to life, who still adorns our walls (and probably yours) and calls us to revel in the Champagne Powder snow. Jo passed away this week, after living her entire life in Steamboat Springs, tying together the ski industry and ranching traditions in our community. Jo will be deeply missed, but her legacy will forever remain emblazoned in our minds when we conjure idyllic images of Steamboat.
