Jerre and Mary Joy Stead formed the Stead Foundation to partner with nonprofits poised to make societal impact and to date has granted more than $400 million to healthcare, education, faith-based organizations, and related causes. Stead Impact Ventures was founded in 2023 by Jerre Stead as an extension of this commitment with the mission to invest with responsibility and purpose in innovators whose ideas will positively change the course of health and wellbeing. Together, the Stead Foundation and Stead Impact Ventures create a perpetual relationship between impactful philanthropy and successive profitability. Stead Impact Ventures is led by Board Chair Jerre Stead, who has served as CEO of 10 public corporations including Clarivate, IHS Inc., IHS Markit, Ltd, Ingram Micro, Legent Corporation, and Square D. Over his 42-year career he has achieved average annual shareholder returns exceeding 22% while serving on 36 corporate and 27 nonprofit boards. Stead Impact Ventures is headed by CEO Tiffani Shaw, who has served in leadership roles in public accounting, higher education, foundations and nonprofits, and publicly traded companies.

The Stead Impact Ventures and Foundation and ALZpath Inc. teams spent the morning giving back and making a difference in our community by volunteering at The Joy Bus, an organization established by award-winning chef Jennifer Caraway in 2011 to provide healthy, chef-inspired meals to cancer patients across the Valley.? ? On November 16, Joy Bus will honor cancer survivor Danny Zelisko, Live Nation Entertainment Southwest’s former president and chairman, at its Lifetime Achievement Celebration. This year’s annual fundraising event will be held at the new Joy Bus headquarters and feature a unique dining experience from Jennifer and five Arizona Food Network Chopped Champions. It was an honor to meet the 2024 Stead Family Scholars and learn about their promising research at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. ? ?? Georgina Aldridge, Assistant Professor - Department of Neurology, is studying the underlying causes and contributing factors of multiple-etiology dementia. ?? Deniz Atasoy, Associate Professor - Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology, is investigating the brain stem neural pathways that counter hypoglycemia and how they become defective during hypoglycemia unawareness. ?? Rebecca Dodd, Ph.D, Associate Professor - Department of Internal Medicine, is researching cancer growth and metastasis and plans to test innovative anti-cancer therapies. ? Thank you Barbara Wilson and John Lammers for hosting this event.
