Launched in 2019 by the Cleveland Browns Foundation, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and Harvard’s Proving Ground, the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network, managed by Battelle, works together to campaign, connect and convene with experts and supporters to dramatically improve attendance. Are you ready to get in the game? As of November 2024, Stay in the Game! represents 161 districts and over 494,000 students across the state of Ohio. For two consecutive years, districts within the Network have seen a reduction in absenteeism rates more than twice that of the state overall.

Never stop inspiring young black minds. Forty talented students from Garfield Heights had the chance to connect with inspiring Black professionals from the Cleveland Browns, highlighting the importance of representation in the industry. Tre Vion, an 11th grader at Rhodes Career Academy with dreams of becoming a sports journalist, had the amazing opportunity to interview Je’Rod Cherry and tour our facility. The SITG! Student Interview gave Tre the perfect platform to shine. Leading the communication and execution of these impactful events continues to be a source of great pride and lasting influence. Attendance Network Pep Rally on Friday to celebrate Marion-Franklin High School’s outstanding achievement of a 7.5% attendance improvement, now reaching 87.6% for the first semester of 2024-25!

Ohio is facing a significant challenge with K-12 absenteeism, and the effects are felt across our communities. The numbers are alarming, with many students struggling to stay engaged and present in class, which can have lasting consequences on their academic success and overall well-being. I am excited that we are partnering with Stay in the Game! Attendance Network to tackle this issue head-on and increase student attendance and engagement at The Intergenerational Schools. Together, we’re committed to creating a supportive environment where every student feels motivated to show up and thrive.
