5 Levels of Retail Autonomy from our founder!
???????? ???????????? ???? ???????????????? ???????????? Previously, I explained why "Autonomous Stores" is a misleading term in the current retail landscape. Now I want to introduce the Five Levels of Unmanned Retail. The concept is inspired by the Self-Driving industry. We’ve built it internally at Staxel and are ready to present it to a wider audience. 0??: ?????????????????????? ??????????: no automation, classic brick-and-mortar store. 1??: ?????????? ???????? ????????-????????????????. The consumer generally can walk into the store and get out without human interaction. Fallback on store associates for age verification, checkout issues, etc. 2??: ?????????????????????? ??????????. The consumer goes through some level of identification upon entry, selects products, and can “Just Walk Out” while the transaction happens automatically in the background. All other store operations are manual. 3??: ??????????????????-?????????????????? ??????????. Part of the store is restricted to walk-in, and designated for some kind of automated outbound solution. It typically stores high-value items frequently targeted for theft. 4??: ?????????? ???????? ???????????????????? ????????????????. The consumer says/types what she wants, and the store collects the products automatically. The consumer might need to pack all the items manually. The replenishment process is manual or partially automated. 5??: ?????????? ???????????????????? ?????????? (inbound+outbound). Same as Level 4 but the consumer’s order is automatically consolidated and packed. Replenishment is fully automated. At Staxel, we are working on the L5 autonomous store.
