Today, after having wrapped up with some earlier launches at Katanemo, I went back to read Alex Strand and team's manifesto - https://lnkd.in/gMEC-2AZ I am re-reading this piece, because I think there is so much to be gained from how they are framing their product. I might not be an immediate customer, but sure as hell want to know how I can get close to what they are building. Thanks for writing this Alex Strand and Stately Cloud, Inc. This is just pushing good juju into the ether for them because I think their work should be looked at. When you evaluate start-ups, don't evaluate the product first, evaluate the strength of their thinking and the composite strength of the team. They seem to have both in large quantities.

A year ago Alex Strand and I started Stately Cloud, Inc. with some of our friends to make a new type of database. Our past experiences taught us that the hardest part of building with a database isn't the initial data modeling or scaling, it's managing changes. As you add features, optimize performance, or just plain change your mind, the weight of your prior decisions makes each next step harder. StatelyDB is our solution to that problem. We call it "The No Regrets Database" because it's built to make changing your mind easy and painless, without having to worry about migrations, backfills, or old clients. We're mixing together our favorite parts of both NoSQL and SQL databases, and tying it all together with Elastic Schema - a strongly typed document schema that supports versioned updates, migrationless migrations, and automatic backwards compatibility. We’re excited for folks to try out StatelyDB and Elastic Schema. If the problems we're solving sound familiar, let us know.
