If there's one thing we're known for (besides Big Tex ??), it's food! For 138 years, we've been serving up flavors as big as Texas itself, from classic corny dogs to wild, fried creations that make national headlines.
In honor of #TexasHistoryMonth, here are a few tasty tidbits:
?? Iconic Fair Foods Were Born Here! Fletcher's Original Corny Dogs debuted in 1942, the snow cone machine was invented in Dallas in 1919, and classics like funnel cakes, caramel and candy apples, and cotton candy all started their rise of fame at the Fair.
?? We're the Fried food capital of Texas! The Big Tex Choice Awards started in 2005, setting the trend for deep-fried creativity at fairs across the country, which produced hits like Fried Butter, Fried Coke, Fried PB&J, and SO many more!
?? We're a foodie destination! People travel from all over the country just to taste our award-winning eats, with celebrities, food bloggers, TV crews, and chefs making the Fair their must-visit stop each year. We even had a TV show about some of our concessionaires called 'Deep-Fried Dynasty.'
