How often are you sending newsletters to your community? --- If you’re sending a newsletter only once a semester, you might be missing out on engagement. The key to increasing impact is adjusting frequency based on content quality and performance. Here’s what works: ? Start with biweekly emails—but increase to weekly if content volume allows ? Leverage automated content sources like StartupTree to pull in events, discussions, and opportunities ? Let performance guide your strategy—if engagement is high, distribute more frequently ? Partner with contributors to ensure a steady stream of fresh content ?? The takeaway? A well-executed, high-frequency newsletter keeps your audience engaged, ensures timely updates, and maximizes the value of your ecosystem’s content. ?? Want to increase visibility for your startups while giving students real-world experience? There’s a simple but high-impact strategy: ?? Leverage student-created content. Here’s what James recommends: ? Publish founder & mentor spotlights weekly to make them the most published voices in their community ? Use university-backed news to give startups an SEO boost with .edu backlinks ? Link to Crunchbase & LinkedIn profiles to drive credibility and exposure ? Embed high-quality backlinks in stories to increase discoverability ?? The takeaway? A student-run startup news network or a business section in a university newsletter creates enormous dividends for both startups and your I&E program ?? What if your startup competition wasn’t just about winning—but about building real ventures and incentivizing more students to participate? In this part of the webinar, a staff member discusses how they redesigned their business plan competition into a two-phase model to: ? Boost engagement—More students applied because funding was available in both phases ? Ensure founders got the right training—To access the second round of funding, teams had to complete an accelerator program ? Create a stronger pipeline—More students stayed engaged, and those receiving the most funding had real-world experience ?? By integrating an 8-week summer accelerator, students didn’t just win money—they developed scalable, fundable startups with mentorship and resources. This approach made the competition more accessible and impactful—helping more students start and sustain ventures. ??
