I ask a lot of questions, not only out of curiosity but also because I am genuinely intrigued (and impressed) by the way you think. Fortunately, I've had the opportunity to witness this firsthand through our experiential learning projects. As the semester kicks off tomorrow, I want to share a little bit about what we've been working on and what to look forward to this semester: Stern Signature Projects (SSP) > This semester we've partnered with the NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business and Google Startups for Sustainable Development to offer two sustainability-focused projects. Through this project, students will explore the luxury and retail space by learning from previous partners, analyzing luxury and retail publications, and identifying content that can be packaged or repackaged for industry consumption. Ultimately, they will determine the most effective format for delivering thought leadership to industry partners and executives. To learn more and apply to these projects, please visit our CampusGroups site: https://lnkd.in/e_rrDUg6 You can also apply here: bit.ly/47ftIbt (must be logged into your Stern email). Swedish startup Bower is transforming recycling with their AI-powered app. It identifies items, provides recycling instructions, calculates CO2e savings, and rewards users with money and coupons. Available on Android and iOS, Bower is already helping 680,000 people recycle better. Read more in Forbes and watch their video! ?? #SustainableDevelopment #Recycling #TechForGood #AI #GoogleStartups
?? Cool new thing alert: Bower, a Swedish startup, are helping change the way we recycle ??. Nearly 90% of households are still unclear on how to recycle items effectively – but recycling is key to reducing our pollution and protecting our environment. Enter Bower, an innovative Swedish startup that is tackling the global waste crisis head-on with their AI-powered app that helps people recycle correctly. Last year they won Google.org’s Impact Challenge and received funding and a fellowship - including a dedicated team of 5 Googlers working full time, pro bono, to help them develop a state-of-the-art computer vision model. And now anyone with a smartphone can use their AI model to recycle better! The app, Bower, is downloadable on both Android and iOS and is already being used by 680,000 people worldwide. Users simply log a product by taking a picture with their phone to learn the item’s type, material, size and product specifics - while also calculating the CO2e savings that can be made by recycling the item and (crucially!) how to do that. The app also rewards users with money and coupons for recycling: making recycling easier, faster, and more tempting than ever before. Read the Forbes article about them below and watch the video to see how it works! ?? https://lnkd.in/eJTqKGJW
