CVC is a global network & founder fellowship designed to increase visibility + access to capital for ?Founders of Caribbean descent across the global diaspora building startups for venture scale?(any vertical) ?Founders of any nationality/heritage building startups for venture scale in one of eight impact verticals driving the prosperity of the Caribbean’s future For those of you who didn’t know my heritage (or are just meeting me via this post), I was born in NYC to parents from Jamaica and Grenada. As a Caribbean-American founder, I always wanted to find a network supporting founders from the global Caribbean diaspora building startups for venture-scale. Last fall I met Daniel, Founder of Keepingly?, while we were both at Techstars Detroit. Daniel, a native of Trinidad felt the same way. As we we talked, we had some realizations: ?? With 30+ nations,?45M people?+ a massive global diaspora with 8.5M in the U.S. alone, The Caribbean was ripe for a new venture moment ??The Caribbean has tremendous economic potential with an existing annual consumer spend of $117B USD + $5.4B USD in annual diaspora remittances ??? There’s a missing network connecting founders & funders worldwide with a connection to the Caribbean ????And this network could be mutually beneficial to anyone building in sectors that impact the Caribbean's future After exploring existing networks, we realized an opportunity to build a new one that fully embodies our vision, and so we did! With today's launch of Caribbean Venture Collective (CVC). More importantly, we recognized we were the perfect team to build it. Daniel, originally from Trinidad, and I, from NY, represent two sides of the global Caribbean diaspora, uniting to foster this new initiative. ??
